morning all. I ordered a cert from the GRO, waited the normal 10 days for delivery, it came a day late, and lo and hehold it wasnt the cert I ordered, someone COMPLETLY different. So I get on to ONS SOUTHPORT and tell then they've sent me the wrong cert and could they provide me with the correct one, PLEASSSEEEEEEEEE. They asked me to return the cert and they would then issue the right one. that was on Friday last. No sign of the cert in the post, today Tues, so on the phone again this time to be told that the turn around time is 5/10days for the issue of a cert. When I told them I had already waited over 10 days they said nothing could be done to speed it up, despite it being their mistake. Normally they are very good and dont make many mistakes? as far as I know, but I also emailed them and got a response that it would be answered within 5 day. Ive not had a reply either to my email. End of story. TED. |

I ordered a birth cert on 14 Nov. It arrived today 28 Nov and I live in New Zealand and it was the right one. Have to say I was a bit sceptical but I take it all back. Will order another one now. Suzanne |

Frustrating isn't it Ted. Thank heavens most of mine are from an area with a good local office. I ordered a death cert two weeks ago using the details from a monumental inscription i found. They replied in two days saying that they couldn't find it with the details supplied and needed to know where he died (was an industrial accident). All i knew was the district, spoke to them on the phone and they agreed to search 5 years either side of the date i gave just in case. Two days later it arrived. Total turnround time from application was just five days including a day with the crossover of the letter from them and my phone call. |

hi all, usually they are pretty good, but in this instance I think its a bit rough to keep me waiting. It was their mistake, and because of that you think they would have made an effort to recitify it RIGHT AWAY. Im gonna sit down now, have a nice sandwich and a cup of tea, read the paper and relax, then out on my bike for an hour or so, doctors orders, diabetic and heart sufferer, and pedal around for an hour. Im getting so good at it, I can make it into CHESTER from where I live in half an hour, which is 15 minutes faster that public tpt. now hows that for an old codger? ted. |
