Has anyone ever come across this surname I think it may be a Somerset name but I am not certain?wow thanks for all the feedback,I do not have a clue as to the pronunciation but bieng a northern lass I rhymed it with chewed, the writing on the certificate was unusually legible so how does Pude become Puddy? anyway I will follow up all your suggestions. |

OK so perhaps all the numbers are part of the reference number! PUDE Joseph James 11/127-2705 PUDE Mary 11/127-2705 That's just two of the pages on the site... Looking nationwide on freebmd, the first birth on there is 1838 in Frome. Thereafter the name is mainly found in the London area, South Shields, Co Durham and Newcastle, Northumberland. hope that helps. Jan |
