I wish I knew the answer. I reckon that I get replies to fewer than one in three of my messges. The reply rate for second or subsequent messages seems to be even worse. I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that if you ask a question such as 'Where did you find that date' or 'As there are two persons named xxx who married in that area that year, why did you decide that candidate A rather than candidate B is our shared ancestor', you won't get a reply. If you want serious genealogy, then by and large, you will have to look elsewhere for it. |

You can't force someone to respond. They may not even be members on this site anymore. Be patient. You might get a one in a year :) |

Hi Folks, Have sent a message a while ago to somebody who I believe could be a relation, but they havent replied. I just want to know what is considered the done thing, do I contact them again or doI presume the non reply is beacuse they are not interested. Its difficult to tell as you cant see if they have read your email or not, dont want to be a pest or gave myself any heartache. Thought asking the experts on her would be the best option so i can get on with things. Thank you for your time Kind Regards Nichola |
