Apperently my Great Great Great Grandmothers family were from huguenot desendents, the family tale is that they were called Courthige which then they changed to Curtis to sound more english! All Saints Church Spitalfields is were most of them lived, seemenly has loads of Huguenot coffins, as it was once shown on the BBC programe 'Who do you think you are'

My ancestors were Huguenots and came from the Spitalfields and Bethnal Green areas of London. The names are Auber, Fradine, Bouron, Morrin and Pequin. Some lines I have actually traced back to Normandy thanks to the marriage registers giving the parents places of origin. Ben

One of the reasons I started this research was to find out about my Father's family. I guessed there may be Hugeonot links and wanted to find out more. However, seven years on and my father's family appear to be staunch catholic but I have found Hugeonot links on my Mother's side. According to family legend my great grandmother Macaree was Irish. Oh no she wasn't, she was born in Kent and her family came from Shoreditch/Spitalfields. I now have her family of watchmakers/ silkweavers back to C1780 (poss. earlier) I am currently trying to find my missing link which will take me back another 100 years.

My husband's mother is a Durose and they are supposed to be descended from Huguenots who came over as weavers, settling in the Staffordshire area
