Hi I have recently received a birth cert for my gt gt grandmother -Mary Quin. She was born Dudley 18th Dec 1848 11.30a.m. Registered 14th January 1849. I know that a time on a birth cert can indicate a multiple birth -( and I have read the previous threads on twins) The nearest I can get to a twin in the indexes is Margaret Quin Dudley Dec Qtr 1848 (there is also a death registered under that name in Mar qtr 1849 - but no age given). Could it be that the Registrar at the time - one Thomas Allen - registered the time of birth as a matter of course? I would be very gratefull if anyone, who has a birth cert for this district / registrar / time, could check and get back to me. Many thanks in advance for any help. |

My GGrandfather wasn't a twin, but has the time of 12 noon on his birth cert. If she is a twin, they should have the same GRO reference. |

Hi Tracy Thanks for your reply - I don't think I'll bother to pursue this. Angela |

I've got two early certs with times on, they weren't for twins either. |
