Hi, Does anyone know if you can link existing relatives in the Genes tree? Coincidentally, I have a brother and sister who married into separate branches of my direct ancestry (well... it was a small town!). I would like to add their parents, as they played an important role in our family history (adopting a direct ancestor after death of parents) ... but I can't appear to find a way to link them into my existing tree. Any ideas? Thanks, Sue |

This is when you start needing a more sophisticated programme than genes. Family tree maker copes with this sort of thing without a problem. I read somewhere that 3% of all marriages were cousin marriages so most people have a similar problem. Anne |

Sue You cannot do it on here. You can however do this on a family tree program on your home computer. You can export your gedcom from genes and import in to the program make the changes then export the new gedcom back to genes There are quite a few free programs you can download to do this. If you need any help you are welcome to message me. Sue |

Thanks for your replies. I thought as much! I keep all my research notes etc on a programme in which I can link whatever I wish. Didn't think about uploading from gedcom files though. What a pity I keep all my family branches in separate programmes! Cheers, Sue |
