Member Since: July 2005 Posts: 23,508 Send Message	If it is handwriting you are having problems in reading, the transcribers pages of FreeBMD will give some help. Go to FreeBMDcouk (replace * with . ) scroll down and click on Transcribers pages, then scroll again to Volunteer Support and Resources, and click on 'How to read 19th century Handwriting' This may be a little older than your documents, but it might help finding your way round them.

Member Since: August 2003 Posts: 89 Send Message	Can anyone give me any advice on being able to read old documents, I have just downloaded my ggrandfathers Navy record from National Archives & have played around with the colour & enlarged etc but still cannot read some of it.
