	We can only HOPE that whoever registered an event told the truth. I don't think there were any checks at all so lots of porkies were told and are now being uncovered by their descendants! Bet they never thought they'd be found out! Anne

	One of mine was illegitimate and she used two different names. She listed her Uncle as being her Dad but he was conveniently listed as deceased . On her baptism as a adult, she used her Mum's married name. Who said this 'hobby' was easy.

	To name the father on a child's birth cert if the mother is not married would entail the father being present at the time the birth was registered. If, however, she told the registrar that she was married to the man she named, he probably wouldn't query it............unless he happened to know the people concerned, and was aware that she was unmarried.
