workhouses on ancestry?

could someone please tell me how i view inmates in workhouses on ancestry,thanks.xxx

if they are in a workhouse when you put their name in it will come up. Jeanette

yes that would be the easiest thing to do but,the person i want went in sometime after the 1901 census was taken,there is a way to view on ancestry but i cant remember how to do it, but thanks anyway.x

if they went in after the census then they should appear on the census where ever they were on census night. if you still want to see the workhouse on the census on the front page, and click on the relivent census link. then scroll down and choose the county you need and then the district. then you get to the list of districts 1,2, 3 etc.. usually work houses are listed at the end

Hi i just googled the area my family came from and put in work houses in 1800s or what ever date you want and a list comes up of everyone who was in there that year. It is sad when you come across a reletive, thats the way i do it any way hope that helps, Ang

You can only view inmates of a workhouse via the census, if you are looking for someone who entered the workhouse after 1901, you won't be able to see them on Ancestry. Sam x
