Two different census infos from 1881, same family? Can anyone she some light on a problem i have come across, i have found some family members in Luton by the name of Bacchus and looked at their census information for 1881. Then i realised there was two lots of census information coming up, both had same people, same birthdates and places, same two young children, and the address was just round the corner. One lot said they were blacksmiths, the other says they worked in the straw hat industry, i know that one son born later on worked for the straw hat makers but i have been told there is blacksmiths in the family so i am very confused! Any help will be much appreciated! |

Have you looked at the actual images? If you give us a bit more info we can take a look for you. What where their names and birth years? Keith |

I have a family llike that in 1881. I wondered if they lived at the corner of two streets and were counted twice. Strange that you have two occupations though. Heather |

Hi, looking at the images, I suspect that they were enumerated twice in the same place by two different enumerators as they were close to the edge of the districts. One of which forgot their occupations and put straw hat blocker as everyone else was!! |
