I have been searching for my ggrandfather David Henry Lappage b 1873 in Maldon Essex. I have found him on the 1901 census but none previous to that, how & where can i search to find him? Does that mean that he was out of the country? The only other thing I've found is his birth entry. Appreciate any help thanks

He probably is on other census records, most likely mistranscribed - have you tried different spellings of his surname or searched just on his christian name and date/place of birth?
