Ok, on FreeBMD... eg for Joseph... Put in the surname (Biddulph) and first name (Joseph). Select a date range (1901 to 1910) I usually tick the Phonetic search box on rarer surnames. Don't put an area in, unless you are 99% sure. If this is what you are doing, I don't know why it doesn't come up for you. For Ancestry, you need the Complete BMD index, with images. The free BMD is just an older version of what is on FreeBMD. When working back from a death record, always look 1-2 years either side, just incase. In Ethels case, you can't just use the search boxes as Dec 1913 isn't indexed for some reason. You can, however, select the year (scroll down), then the quarter, then the initial of the surname. You have to search through the images manually to find it, but you can make eduxated guesses as to where to start, eg image 20. |

Hi Jess Im sure its the one for 1904 in Nottinghamshire. His death was registered by his wife so I am sure his DOB is correct. Can you tell me if Im doing something wrong when i do BMD look ups, only I never seem to have any luck.Or is it as I said before I need my eyes testing. Regards Cheryl |

Hi Ethel Foden died 16/0/1931 aged 17years Father: Henry Foden Mother : Mary Atkins Jospeh Biddulph died 03/01/1967 aged 62years. Do not know his parents. Both buried in Northern Cementary Nottinghamshire. Possibly born Basford area. Regards cheryl |
