For interest, if you go to: http://www.hertfordshire-genealogy*co.uk/ (replace asterisk with full stop) there is a history of straw plait making in Hertfordshire. I have straw plaiters in Redbourn. Carol

Hi, most of my rellies were straw plaiters as well. They were from Hitchin,not far from Luton Or Tring. Tina

Hi Can anyone tell me what a straw plaiter is circa 1841. I think it may be someone who bales straw or makes mats etc as it appears to be mostly women of my family who has undertaken this work. Thanks Sue
