Hi everyone,l wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction. l am trying to find the birth of William Hiram Hayes, He was born about 1859 in Dudley Worcestershire. Married Susannah Caddick December 1880. He is on 1881 cencus as Hiram Hayes with Susannah living with Charles Taylor, who refers to him and Susannah as Grandaughter and Grandson. he is on 1891 with his wife and children and missing from the 1901 census as he died January 1901. l know his fathers name was William off marriage cert, but need to know mothers name to get any further. l think maybe Charles Taylor could be a link because he was living at same address on marriage cert.l have looked through the census but ther are many Williams with William as father. l have posted on here before and thought l had found him but turned out William Henry. Would l now have to look at parish records. |

Hi Pauline, looking at the 1881 image, Charles Taylor is the Head of the household, Ann Taylor is his wife, William Hiram (age 22) and Susannah are recorded as grandchildren to Charles and Ann. Elisha is recorded as son in law and Annie as daughter. Will try and find him on earlier census. |

Could this be Susannahs birth? Name: Susannah Caddick Year of Registration: 1859 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar DISTRICT: Dudley (To 1912) County: Staffordshire Volume: 6c Page: 90 The slight concern I have with this is that Oldbury where she was born on the 1881 census comes under the West Bromwich registration district not Dudley. |
