Sometimes even if there is an e-mail address on an online tree it may be out of date. I found one the other day with distant cousins on it but it didn't appear to have been touched for several years and the e-mail address no longer worked. I've ended up going downwards a couple of generations and adding a few more of the family taken from their tree onto my GR one in the hope someone connected to them comes onto GR and we get Hot Matched. Hi Jeanette, I just had a look at Ancestry. The tree you are looking at was actually submitted to the RootsWeb site, which links to Ancestry. The contact details for this tree are shown as 'UNKNOWN'. These older trees on Ancestry may or may not allow contact, the person submitting the tree has to also register for the 'contact service'. Looks like you are out of luck on this, the person who submitted the tree does not want to be contacted. Paul

Thanks peeps! All I entered was Elizabeth Greenley born in England. The result is Elizabeth Hannah Greenley, Spouse: John William Wood. It would be a shame if I couldn't contact this person as I have quite a bit of stuff I could share. Jeanette x

Maybe you need to change your text size. If its too big you wont see the whole page. Jackie

I am sure there is a simpler way to do it but If you start a personal tree under family trees with the person you are interested in on one world tree it should flash up a green leaf showing matches in one world tree. You then click to accept and it should give you the ancestors from one world tree. Go to the personal view on your tree and click the show record and you will get the details. There should be a link on the side to show ancestry members interested in this person with contact details. However it is possible to contribute to one world tree anonomously so you may not find contact details. Good luck.

Jeanette I dont know if the contact info is only on some entries but you would think if someone was entering their tree on Ancestry they would want to be contacted if someone had a match. Can you give us the info on who it is you have found & I will check & see if there is a contact email. Georgina.

No Worries Gem ;-))))))) This is exactly the problem I have. Do I assume then that as I can't see WHAT DO I DO NEXT, the person hasn't submitted their details? I have seen it written by the side of other peeps that are in my tree. And yes it was OneWorld tree.....sorry!

Sorry to hijack your thread Jeanette Georgina. On One World Tree, I cannot find 'What do I do next'. Unless it's my computer missing stuff off the page. All I can see is Page tools and Source Records. I would love to get in touch with the people that submitted the info though. Any idea's please? Gem:))))

Jeanette if you mean Ancestry One World Tree when you click on the person you are interested in, on the right hand side of the screen under WHAT DO I DO NEXT just click on Contact People who submitted this information. Georgina.

if you click on the ancestors name does it come up with something like:- # ID: # Name: # Sex: # Birth: # Death: Father: Mother: if so the member that submitted it will have their email address shown as a picture at the top of the page. Haven't figutred oneWorldTree yet though (public and private member trees need to be acceses t contact the owner - look at what to do next when you access it or Make connection

I was having a play around on Ancestry the other night and came across a branch of my family that I had been a bit unsure about due to a common surname, but it was definitely them. A whole swathe of ancestors were added on Ancestry World Tree. Now, I couldn't see a way of contacting the person that had added it. Is it optional to be contactable? Can you leave a message at all? If I don't answer promptly, it's because I'm on my way out to my spanish class soon. Jeanette x
