Hi Karen, try this website www.polishroots(.)com/index(.)htm all sorts of info, with Bida, it could have been Baida or Beida. I found a Kazimierz going to USA on Ellis Island site in 1923 aged 33, his origin given as Lubianki, Galicia. I am going out to play cards now, but if you think I can help further, get back to me today, Derek in France |

For Scotland the best site is scotlandspeople.gov.uk - its a pay per view site but is worth paying the money. Once you get further back try familysearch.org - its a free site though dont trust all the information on it and try to double check everything. For the polish side, maybe you could get in touch with the Polish club in Edinburgh epecially if they stayed in the Edinburgh area. There may be more around the country but thats the only one i know. I dont know what help they might be but they may be able to push you in the right direction. Failing that i could suggest the National archives of Scotland who may hold some imigration stuff and getting in touch with the Polish embassy? Hope thats of some help Mhairi |
