No Roger, it hasn't always been like that - at one point you could get straight to the search box, to find tree permissions, without having to go from their tree via yours to do it! OC

I agree with Keith Franklin,& i'm very not happy with the new names search, the old way was much better,I can't quite work out whats missing but it was just so much easier to type in a family name & then search thought all of the records as you want Elaine

Its always been like that OC to finding other peoples trees on the old system so no change there. I like the new system as you don't get confused with your family names in the search part. You should know your connections anyhow. I know the name of ancestor I am looking at and then go on search to see if anyone else has her/him and connact them. But irather it was old to ypungster as default not the other way round as now.

Wendy If you click on MY TREE MATCHES down the side and choose the surname you want then click on MATCHES IN MY FAMILY TREE next to it you will find all the names you have added. Jenny

Ah, Dizzy Doris, GR have made a cunning improvement to finding other people's old trees. Click on Old Tree . Up comes your own tree. In the top right hand corner is a tab which says in very small writing 'view other members trees'. Click on the drop down box and there are the trees you have permission to view. Click on the one you want to see (exhausted yet? I am) and up comes their old tree. OC

Totally agree with you Keith. Also when I go to view other members trees opened to me I cannot find any facility to find marriage and death dates...unless I am missing something ?? If I revert back to their old tree system it takes me back to my tree. Linda

Reg, Not a lot of good in my opinion. Easier if you can immediately see your ancestors for comparison in my opinion. Another GR backward step.

The new 'improved' system on genes means that you don't see your own family's names in the search section........only those of other people's families, so that you can find any links between yours and theirs.............. Reg
