Salop County Gaol

My gg grandfather Brooke Cox was in Salop County Gaol and House of Correction in 1841. I'm fascinated to find out why! Does anyone know where I can see/search the Shropshire court or gaol records relating to this time? |

They are probably in the County Records Office. I had a relation in Gloucester Gaol and I contacted the Goucester Records Office. I can't remember how much the search and printouts cost but it wasn't expensive. They sent me a copy of his prison record which was fascinating. I was then able to ask them to find newspaper reports of the trial. They were very helpful and again it wasn't particularly expensive. Good luck Sue |
