Application for marriage certificate. Hi all . I know what year they got married but not what qrt dose it matter when applying for the certifcate . the year is 1905 .And what info do you get from it. regards bernie.

To order from the GRO it is best to have the District, year, quarter, vol, and page number, If you post the details i will have a look Roy

As for the information you will get from it. You should find out the addresses of both bride and groom, their occupations, fathers name and mothers maiden name, where they were married and any witnesses (which are a great source of information in themselves sometimes). To get the GRO index reference, try searching Ancestry*co*uk for free, or FreeBMD*co*uk The latter may not have been transcribed yet, but we are doing our best lol Or give us the names and we can take a look for you.

Bernard, From your last post you have all the info that you need, if you go to the GRO site you can order the cert It cost £7 the cert is the only way of getting anymore info http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ Roy
