I am having trouble finding out any information on my great grandfathers family, and my mum pointed out there names were gypsy related, so i thought id try that route. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Not yet Victoria, but I need to get going on my lot of Kings, family legend has it they are from the Romany Kings. Try the records board, you'll probably find a lot of help on there.

I'm sure I've seen a Rootsweb mailing list for Romany ancestors that could help?

Knew I'd put a site somewhere in favourites for future reference. Try this one, might give you a few pointers to start with. http://www.rtfhs.org.uk/

Hi Victoria, I have loads of Romany ancestors! I am tracing the English ones and also the Eastern European ones. Sorry but if it's King or Lee it's going to be a nightmare for you! In my experience, some births were registered, It's a bit hit and miss. Marriages are there but tend to be a long time after the children come! If you need any help, feel free to pm me. Pat

Hi Pat, that is precisely why I haven't researched my lot yet, they are Kings arrrggghhh. Gonna be fun when I get started, cos they settled in the mid 1800's in the East End

Theresa, I know loads of Kings! Not from the East End though. One of them got married last year and had 40 yes 40 bridesmaids! Pat
