I know there was a reason I asked that question... let me think about it lol Oh yeah, I found Joseph, George and Frances(May?) on the BMD index. Oh, I also kept coming back to this... Marriage Dec 1909 Dark Francis William Crosley Ann Jessie Southwark 1d 296 which is the only other Dark/Cros*y marriage up to 1920.

hi , yes joseph was my grandad ..he was born in 1918 in south newington, i have the birth cert with parents on.i know he wasnt the first child i think there were 2 before him one was george jnr and the other was may as far as i know and 2 more after him.i would imagine they were married around1910 ish. joseph father was in the bedford regiment at the time joseph was born so would he be on the absent voters list and is there anywhere to check that out?...once i get some info and get back to 1901 i should be ok but i cant even get there with this side of the family...lol thanks for your replies tracey

Hi Tracey, Have you checked the FULL BMD images? It looks to me as if you have just checked FreeBMD, the FreeBMD is only partially transcribed, and mainly up to 1910. The way to find the marriage is to check the FULL index, quarter by quarter until you find the right one. Do you know if your grandad was the first child? This will give some idea as to when to start searching. It may be a long trawl. Keith
