having downloaded a ged file to my tree is seems to have deleted my tree and replaced it with the ged file can i get my tree back help thanks

That's exactly what's supposed to happen, and no, you can't. 'To upload your gedcom, just click the button below to select the file you wish to upload. But remember, uploading a Gedcom file will overwrite your existing Genes Reunited tree'

Hi, Im a little confused here, do you mean downloaded to your computer or uploaded to Genes? If downloaded, you need to make sure that the Gedcom is called by a different name to your original file when you open it in your tree package. You MAY be able to get your original tree back on your tree package, there MAY be a backup file that you can restore from. Good luck Keith

Thankyou for your replies, Much appreciated. I had to delete what was left of my tree. and start a new one. It has taken two full days. But it's done now. All the best. Carol

Being wise after the event, but I always give my GED files a title that includes today's date as well as the family it refers to. J
