Got a releative who was in a trade in 1800's?

Found a web site created by Leicester University. It has all sorts of directories on it from the early 1800's. The directories are like the Yellow Pages of the day. Not only do they list main traders and addresses in towns but the transport links and time tables and description of the area. They give a great insight into what a town was like. Is it the historical directories site? I always found it very difficult to navigate and I think they were making changes so it was easier but now they have run out of funding. I did find my GGF on there in his joinery business in a couple of the directories. If you did have people in business in the London area, you may also want to have a look at the phone directories that ancestry now has.

It is the historical directories site. Funding has been found and the site is easy(ier) to navigate. However they seem to have forgot advertise it again. Karen
