HI all, are you able to advise what is the best site to use, I used to use 1837 but it has changed it's name and am not sure that I want to join ancestry, any other suggestions? Thanks, Bev. |

You don't say what info you want.............. If you want bmd info, the free option is Ancestry. If you want census info.........1881 is free on www.familysearch.org. Other censuses are all on Ancestry....but there is a cost (approx £70.00 per year) The 'new' version of 1837 is exactly the same ...only the name has changed. Reg |

Hi - 1837online is now findmypast(.)com. Both that and Ancestry are really the best sites you can join really (in my opinion) since they both have a great supply of resources. To be honest, I couldn't be without Ancestry. They really are tops in my book and well worth every penny. Why don't you do a short subscription and test them out for a few weeks and see how you get on? Most of the members on these forums who help others with their trees (BMDs and Census queries) are using Ancestry, so you can tell how popular they are. Regards - Athena |
