Derek, you say about the junk mail in Outlook. Where is this button please? I receive so many spam emails and never any for myself. Could the junk mail button help me do you think? Thanks Pam.

I've just got hot matches today for two names I don't even have in my tree !!!! However, on the plus side, I have got a few that look as if they really might be matches. I only contact one person at a time though, because if they are matches I can't cope with getting information from more than one person at a time, lol. I get too easily confused!!!!! Kath. x

Derek GR never removes a single ancestor from GR. The only way someone's tree can go, is if they remove it themselves. OC

Hi Chris, I suppose if it is as you say then maybe we are better of without their history. Do GRU delete trees for people who do not renew their membership? Derek

Derek Short and sweet answer(s).... They joined, lost enthusiasm and are no longer are researching so will ignore a contact. They have changed their e.mail addy and forgot to inform GR.....They could also be sitting, wondering, why they haven't had any Hot Matches??? LOL Or of course, sadly, they are no longer with us in the true sense of the words :( Chris

If you are using Outlook, right click on the mesage that went into junk. Under Junk mail choose the option add sender to safe senders list. Then next time it won't go into junk. But then it might be the best place for them. This month all my Hot matches except 2 were for people I have already contacted, what a waste of time why can't they give me new contacts. The month before I sent messages to about 8 people from hot matches, 4 of who have not even replied. If they don't want contact why are they on GRU.

I have recently had some great Hot Matches - not the usual one person born in Australia when mine were born in Yorkshire! And my friend got one which gave one branch of her tree back to the 1600's! I think they are worth checking but you have to take one day to sit and write to everyone that could be a match and then delete all of them - thats what I do anyway and it works for me.

Yes I found my 5 pages of X from X really useful (Not). They may as well have gone to the junk folder.

I've switched my Hot Match option off - thought a total waste of time and space. Lin

junk mail would have been the best place for mine - just deleted 5 pages of totally useless Not Matches. OC
