Member Since: October 2004 Posts: 93 Send Message	Hi I have just got a death certificate through which shows that he died aged 79 his cause of death in 1901 is Paralysis 20 days. I have never had days on the death certificate i asume this means he was paralised for 20 days but how would that kill him?? Any ideas Thanks Karen

	Just had a look on a web site and found this Paralysis Will generally mean a stroke if used as an unmodified term. I suppose it means had a stroke 20 days ago - maybe in a coma? never regained conciousness Vikkix www.paul_smith.doctors(.)org(.)uk/ArchaicMedicalTerms.htm just remove the brackets

	Paralysis is sometimes the name given to a stroke. He probably was certified by a doctor with a stroke 20 days before his death. Kath. x
