i have been saving my family tree on who do you think you are family tree maker. i now wish to transfer what i have saved to c.d. can anybody inform me as to how i can do this. it says in the instructions on family tree maker that it can be done but it does not say how. any information on how i can transfer it to c.d. would be appreciated. edwin

I don't use that software but I would imagine you would have to create a Gedcom file (called 'export' on the software I use) save the file to 'my documents' or whatever, then transfer the details from there to CD. I don't think you would be able to do it in one step (but someone will probably tell you I'm wrong LOL)

Hi Edwin, Do you just wish to use the CD as a back-up? If so you can save a backup file to cd, or any other drive, click on file then backup, this will bring a box up with the options of where to save to, one of which is writable cd drive. If you wish to send the cd to some-one who does not have FTW, then GEDCOM is probably the better bet, click on file/export/entire file, then click GEDCOM as file type, name the file and save where you want.
