Lynn Perhaps this will help: First World War records for soldiers who served with the Guards Regiments can be applied for from the relevant regimental headquarters. All records still held by the Ministry of Defence. They will only be released to proven next of kin and a £25 fee will be payable. The address to write to is Regimental Headquarters Grenadier Guards/Coldstream Guards/ Scots Guards/Irish Guards/Welsh Guards Wellington Barracks Birdcage Walk London SW1E 6HQ

Evening all Got a e-mail to day from Dublin with lot's info on my grandad. Grenadier Guards. Commissioned 13th Feb 1917 and showing in the London Gazette 14th March 1917, I have tryed to look at this no look as yet. Entered France on active service with the 1st Battalion Irish Guards on 17th August 1915. Awarded the standard medals 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. Appears in the London Gazette again on 9th October, promoted from 2nd Ltto Temporary Lt 13th August 1918 transferring from I Gds to RIR. Still no D.O.B ANY HELPING HAND'S OUT THERE.
