After looking for this family on the 1891 cencus for years I have finally found them in another county. On each cencus the wifes place of birth is different - does any one know why this would happen? According to parish records & birth certs she was born in shardlow , derbyshire - as were her parents. The cencus lists her as being born in manchester,leicestershire, nottingham as well as shardlow? Would it be the same person - the family must be correct? Is Eliza & elizabeth seperate names? now have had a better look at it: so 1871 Elizabeth 22 Hemington 1881 Eliza 30 Manchester 1891 Eliza 40 ? 1901 Eliza 50 Shardlow my feeling is............. its the same woman ! age stays right except for 1871, but is only 2 yrs out then and Eliza is often Elizabeth too. census records are only info given to the enumerator, if the person giving info doesn't know, thats where these problems arise, hence birthplaces, most of them are all in the same are anyway - well except Manchester !!
