Sue, just for future reference, the sample is not a sample of ancestry's transcription; it is a sample that was transcribed long before ancestry transcribed the whole thing, and there are likely to be a lot of mistranscriptions on ancestry's index that are correctly transcribed in the sample.

That's brilliant Reg - I didn't think of looking for them under a mistranscribed name in the full census as it was right in the sample. Thanks for all your help everyone Sue

I think I've 'found' the two children - they seem to have changed their names from Susan and Brridget in 1841 to Eloise and Keziah in 1851! I'm giving up for now - I wasn't going to do any of this tonight and then they went and put football on the TV......

Heather - you have indeed found them in 1841- although I'm puzzled about where children aged 12 and 13 in 1851 were in 1841- because I've definitely got the family in 1851 sample and not in full the 1851, and the reason I said waterloo rd was because thats all the info I can get without the original image! which takes me back to how reliable the sample is. I've just read this back and its a bit garbled - I know what Imean! Sue

I've found James and Betsey Butcher and family in the 1851 census sample living in Waterloo Rd, Surrey but cannot find them in the 1851census! I can't access the original image either - is the census sample reliable?
