Last night Glen, I thought Id use the 'research tips option' on there. I go to a person, click on the research tips and got such a lot of nonsense about 'this person was born in Norfolk 1860 therefore she will have married in Connecticut and you can search blah blah blah' Was I disappointed! |

The websearch on v16 uses Ancestry dot com as the default search option, whereas UK records are most likely found on the uk site. You can change the database that is searched but apparently v16 does not retain these settings when FTM is closed, they need to be re-entered each time you open the programme. As the websearch only records Ancestry as the soudce i never use the websearch anyway (mistranscribed names and married names of females are not recorded in the search results so they have a limited value in those circumstances anyway). |

I just bought the WDYTYA 2006 version from TWR computing. Its also got bits and pieces on it to help starters and at £12 including postage (to Germany) I think its a good buy (we dont have a Morrisons and if we did by the time I got there and found out they didnt have it in stock .......) I have the 2006 which has been upgraded to V16 automatically and to be honest, I havent seen any difference. The one Ive bought is going to a newly found cousin abroad and TWR dont even charge for the extra postage and I believe will be refunding the VAT - so a good buy. Just google TWR Computing. |

Don't be fooled by the deluxe / collectors editions. This only refers to extra cd's you get bundled (they are not part of the FTM program) with records information. I have yet to hear of anyone who has found them of use. The only extra that may be worth considering is an Ancestry subscription, that is, if you don't already have one As said, the differences between 2005 / 2006 versions are minimal. The v 16 upgrade is, allegedly, only relevant to US users. |

The morrisons version is 2005. The differences between 2005 and 2006 are minimal. The extras on v16 compared to 2006 are Corrections to certain errors in Family Tree Maker 2006, especially to source bugs identified within the program FastFill available when searching in the Master Sources list Source Usage Reports can now be filtered by Individuals to Include You wouldn't know the differences between 2005/2006 and v16 in normal use. Alison, if you have a Morrisons Supermarket near you, someone on here said they were selling them for £5.99. I use the 2006 UK edition, but paid around £25 for it earlier this year. |
