But surely if she was 40 when she died in 1860, she would have been born in 1820?? OC

Karen, I've looked at the image and I think you're right about Birstall. I did think it might be Bedale, but it doesn't look much like that. Do you know where she and William married? It might be and idea to have a look at the marriage record to see if the witnesses give any clues.

Is she on the census as Bersdale? If so, can you give the ref and I'll have a look at the page.

I have looking for a relly called Sarah Clough born 1811 born in Bersdale Yorkshire not as I can't find ' bersdale ' i thought it might be a misheard ' Birstal' She only appears on one census as she died in 1860... now on IGI I have found a Sarah CLOUGH christened in Birstal but IGI says she died in infancy ... now I would like to confirm this is correct so I can rule it out as my Sarah .. would any one know where to start?
