when you post a request, its a good idea to stick around for a while, most queries dont take long - any any that need input from you will be resolved far quicker if you are around. You may know more than you think or have omitted a small detail that will help us find whoever for you Jess x |

Yes, Jess is dead right - and of course people are far more likely to help someone who sticks around and is taking an interest! It is disheartening if there is no feed back - either positive or negative - to help shape the searches. Victoria |

Jess, Strange but I was just looking at a thread from earlier today when I said the same thing on it. Maureen |

The most annoying thing i find is........ ...when someone posts a thread asking for help, then goes off to private messaging!!!!! Someone will post saying...' i have sent you a PM' aagghhh!!!! Please keep it to the boards and on the same thread! We can as a group help you far better! and also I'm not left in mid air! Gerri (letting off steam) x |

Regardless of your time zone, Berrnard, if you want someone to find Gt Uncle Claud, stick around and help them. Most queries are, after all answered in moments, whatever time of the day or night |

I'm with Jess on this. If you do not have time to stick around for at least fifteen or twenty minutes, don't post your request until you can. That way you will get far more help in future requests and every one will be happy. Jennifer |

Jess, you have made a very valid point there and I must confess to being guilty as charged! Although when I post and run it is not through lack of interest, rather lack of time lol. I should like to choose as my punishment to be deported ........ to the mid 19th century. *slopes off smacking back of hand* :-D happy hunting Rose |

As a point of interest,on Message Boards on some Sites you are prompted if there are any replies to postings. Regards William Russell Jones Cefn Mawr Wrexham. |

I agree with Gerri, private messaging can put you on the spot. I had someone a couple of weeks back, who I had helped in the past, pm me and ask for some information and images to be sent via private e-mail, this I did - saying they would be better posting on the boards - I never had any acknowledgement and two days later they were on the boards asking for the same information. So I was guilty of putting 'I have pm'd you' although I didn't like doing it. I should have said 'you have been sent all this'. So I would say always post the query on the boards for all to see in the first place. Regards Gail |

Certainly worth a nudge up as there have been several threads in the last couple of days when members have not stayed online to answer questions. Maureen |
