I was wondering if anyone out there could possibly help me with this. Most of my ancestors are Scottish and I use Scotlands People. One of my Great Aunts (who is still alive but memory going) was brought up by an aunt & uncle of hers. It is rumoured by her and other members of the family that her mother ran away to England (possibly Newmarket ) with a another man possibly called Groom. Here are the details I have if anyone could help. My great aunt I know was born in 1925 in Scotland. It is believed that she was at least a toddler when her mother left. Her mother Ameila Kerr born 1901 in Scotland. Her fathers name on birth is Alistair Mckintosh. But like I said earlier the man she ran away with was called Groom. I would like to find out if Ameila Kerr married this man in England, and possibly any death for her. Thankyou Julie. |

Hi Pat & Dawn, The birth I have for her is 26 September 1901. I know this is a mammoth task, as I am going on some fact some rumour. I suppose the trouble is she could have gone anywhere, as there is know factual evidence to where she went. Do you think it would be worth me getting hold of the death you found even though the dates dont exactly match? Thanks Julie |

Hi Jess I did think of that being that it was Newmarket. But that is the only name I have to go on. Julie |

Julie, To be honest, No I wouldn't order the cert. In my experience, Most people knew their actual date of birth, although they sometimes got the year wrong. Do you have her birth cert then? Pat |
