Please can anyone help me find the births of this husband and wife I am looking for Charles William Humphry Ward. I have found what I believe I have found his death on free BMD, Oct-Nov-Dec- Qtr 1924, it says he was 69 yrs old, death registered in Islington. I have checked free BMD deaths from 1853 through to 1860 I can't see him anywhere. I have his daughters birth cert for 1910, her name is Emily Ruth Ward, at that time they were living in 5, Netley Street, Paddington North, London. I am also searching for his wifes birth too, her name is Emily Barrett, all I know is she was 65 at death in 1950 registration, Hastings, so her birth year should be 1885, I cannot find her either. Many Thanks, Gillie.

There marriage took place 1909 at Paddington so if you bought a copy that marriage certificate it would give you their father's names and occupation and then they could be found in the census.Good luck Irene

Hi Tracy and Dawn, I have checked Census' and familysearch with no luck, Thank you Dawn, Emily's mother was called Sarah, although reading through what you have put the name Ruth does run in the family, perhaps it is a combination of both names, the other thing that makes it difficult is that Emily's mother was reputed to have had 17 children with only 3 remaining alive, Maria, Lizzie and Emily, I have no idea of names of other children that may have been born, I do know that they lived in Paddington before moving to Banbury, Oxford. I know it is expensive to keep getting copies of certificates but I think it is the only way to confirm that these people are your ancestors.Good luck Irene

Hi Irene, yes it is, I must admit a couple of time I've bought certs just for pleasure rather than for a purpose to verify, perhaps if I stopped doing that and concentrated on only buying them when desperately needed I wouldn't be spending so much lol trouble is I like to buy them just to say I have them and I get great pleasure out of seeing and reading them.
