I also once joined friends and received one recently with a link to their dating service and potential matches to a collection of sad looking sixty year olds. Luckily I am happily married. Interestingly it contained an offer to subscribe to friends for twelve months for £7.50 the old price, usual price £7.50 for six months. The news letters from Lost cousins (free) and ancestry are always very informative.

Thanks Olde Crone. That confirms it IS different to the New Names Alert emails I receive. I use mailwasher so I can glance through to check nothing is acidentally deleted before it reaches my inbox, so it wouldn't have been lost at that stage. I certainly never received the message you mentioned, nor did I receive the Users' Survey. I wonder what else I haven't received either?

I have certainly had one fairly recently - read it and deleted it, as it was a thinly disguised advert for GR, FR, and the 'new' Records available at an outrageous cost on GR - or should I say, via GR. You haven't missed much. OC

Has anyone ever received this? If so, when and what sort of material did it contain? I've had the box ticked in 'My Account' to receive the newsletter, but I don't recall ever having received one and I've been a member since early 2003.
