I may have jumped the gun on this one. There are plenty of kind souls right here only too willing to help out. A simple post on here hs given me direction so it looks like the 20 quid an hour is back in my pocket.

Family Tree Magazine and Practical Family History have extensive lists of researchers and the areas they cover in their monthly magazines. Rates vary as Gerri has said. The November issue of FT Mag has one man at £8 per hour which is a more general rate. Keith

I think the work I've done so far is accurate. There are a couple of sticking points I've come up against that are driving me up the wall. So much so that I'm considering employing the researcher. See the post 'Post 1901 dilema'

You are the only person who can know if your tree is accurate.........other than your relations, no-one has the knowledge of your family that you do........ How long have you been researching? How far back have you gone? Reg

David When you say you want your tree checked for accuracy, what do you mean, exactly? Why do you think it may not be accurate? Researchers only have access to the same records as the rest of us, and can only draw the same conclusions. You have one great advantage over any paid researcher - you have knowledge of your family, they don't. Or are you saying that you do not have the time to do it and wish to pay someone else? There must be people in the area. Have you tried http://www(.)ffhs(.)org(.)uk/ Remove the brackets. Usually the local Society would know of recommended people and they could tell you what is available online or via lookups. Good luck Sue

Hello, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to progress with my tree and would like to enlist the help of an experienced tree researcher. I hail from Northumberland and would prefer somebody who is able to access the local records office should they need to. If its not important to have access to local records then I simply need a researcher from anywhere. I would like my tree checked first of all for accuracy and then added to. Regards. Dave.
