Tday is Remembrance Day - yes I know it was yesterday, but I have been watching the wreath laying at the Cenotaph. I think of my father, Canadian, a long way from home, whom I never met, and now he is gone I think of my birth mother, naive and loving, I met her, but she too is now gone I think of my full sister, separated from me by being adopted to a different family to myself. War touches everyone, and its shadows are long Eileen birth name

Hi Dorothy - thankyou, I am well, you too I hope. I feel that we warbabies are in a way also casualties of war, as were our parents. People may say that our mothers and fathers should have known better, but who is to say how we would have felt, or what we would have done, in their situation. I have been watching 'Sex Love and War, on satellite tv. The stories are heartrendingly sad. We can not, and should not try to judge them. I was going to say 'judge them by this days standards ' Then I realised that in fact 'now' in 2006 is seen as far more open than the 1940s. However, we war-babies are still stigmatised, and our birth parents frowned upon. Strange isn't it? Eileen
