Hi Margaret - Back to my original question about interchangeable names - Catherine/Katherine/Keturah - Kitty/Kate. It looks as if you 'pays your money and takes your choice'! I'm intrigued by your surname - Greek? I live in Cyprus! Thanks for response. Pam

Thank you both - you have actually answered my query - that obviously the two names are not interchangeable. My (hopefully) lazy way of shortcutting has paid me back - now need to do a lot more. Thanks again, Pam

I should imagine the first three could be.......all depending on the literacy - or otherwise - of the people giving the info. The only way to be sure about Keturah/Catherine is to try to find both females at later stages in their lives (assuming they were different people) Reg

Thanks Reggie and Elizabeth. I realised that Keturah is biblical and this is why I wondered about conversion to a nonconformist faith. Also, I have found the name in later generations. It was whether Keturah and Catherine are interchangeable. Thanks, Pam

Hi Reggie. Thanks for response. But what I'm looking for is whether the names are interchangeable. Cheers, Pam

I don't know if it helps but ... Keturah is a biblical name. Abraham married Keturah in Genesis chapter 25 after the death of Sarah, so I suppose it's a name in its own right. Liz

Hi Everyone - Does anyone know if the name Keturah abt 1800 is the same as Catherine/Katherine? I have John Fulleylove in Hinckley, Leicestershire, whose children on IGI seem to be born to either Keturah, Kitturah, Kitty, or Catherine. The first three may be the same person - not sure about Catherine. I suspected a conversion to a nonconformist faith may have resulted in Keturah, but children's christenings are CofE. I'd be grateful for any opinions/knowledge. Many thanks, Pam
