Hi Rose. We've tried that, sadly with no luck. I'd really like to find him and have tried all kinds of name variations. Thank you for your help, though, it's appreciated. :) |

Hi Lisa try putting his name on this Ancestry page. It may not locate him but it is somewhere to start. http://www.ancestry(.)co(.)uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=5969 Remove the brackets. Apart from that I have no idea. Good luck! I am hoping for a reply to my thread about emigrants coming home. Rose |

My gggrandfather was born in 1811 in Ireland. The 1850 New Jersey, USA census shows his profession as teacher. By 1856 he owned a 'fancy goods' establishment in Toronto, Canada (the shop stayed in the family for two generations)....I can't find his original immigration record....Perhaps he left Ireland as a farmer or labourer???? Any suggestions of how to find his immigration greatly appreciated. |
