Hi all, After reading all threads aboutr hot matches and changes GR have made, I'm Curious.........Is anyone still NOT getting hot matches or email notifications re contacts. Ive been a member for 3 years.and always got them before. Ive not received anything since May this year?? Jackie

Are you sure you havent accidentally switched them off? Go to My Account Details to check. OC

hi jaqueline no, it's the same for me, i too haven't received any new ones for a good six months. i know that there MUST have been at least one person who has added a relative in that time. and i definitely haven't turned my hot matches off. scott

No Ive checked that.........its all ok. Strange thing is I am not getting any email from GR at all......and I havent chenged my addy. Someone else on here was having the same prob and coincidentally she is in Australia too. Ive also checked spam.....its not going there either. The only way I know I have a contact is by coming in here every day. Jackie

this is a really wild stab in the dark - but which version of the GR addy are you using - the one which ends in uk, or the one that ends in c*o*m? I know NOTHING about computers so may be completely off the wall here. What happens when you look at your Hot Matches list? They are not there,I take it. OC

I know my comment doesn't directly relate to not getting hot matches emailed...but I am getting ones with names that are definatley NOT on my tree!!

My problem with hot matches is that everyone seems to have a James Young in their tree - this time 90% of my hot matches were for James Young! Surely not everyone who has registered new relatives has got a man by this name! Or is it GR just trying to wind me up?

Hi Jackie, About not getting any come back from G R....I haven't heard from them recently either and I used to receive 2 to 3 emails a day!! Don't know what they are doing, maybe it is taking them all their time to upgrade this site or maybe they are trying to get things right cos I often used to receive hot matches from them saying they were new and apparently I already had them in my tree...TUT TUT! tee hee Maggie

Jacqueline, I am in Australia and I have no problem with the GR e-mails. Do you use an ISP based e-mail or a Web based one such as 'H**mail'? (interesting but GR wont display the real name of this global web mail provider hence the asterisks) ISP's are using network based SPAM filters more and more and yours may simply be blocking GR e-mails. My own SPAM blocking software also blocked GR e-mails initially until I 'trained' it to accept them. I see several posts on GR relating to this problem and suspect that SPAM filters, whether ISP or PC based, are one of the causes. Have you also checked that the e-mail address shown in your Account Details is current?

Hi Paul, I use Bigpond. Interesting if they are blocking gr emails but they cant block all the blasted Viagra and penis emails! LOL! Might have to check via bigponds website. Funny tho cuase the email addy I use for here is via a private server. Jackie

You don't receive individual hotmatch messages, only a blanket message from GR each time the program has been run to say you might have some new ones. To turn this notification on or off you click the option on your Account details page. 'Do you wish to be notified by a hot matches or new names email when another member enters a family name that already exists in your tree?' Individual messages are are a result of members getting in touch, whether the do this as a result of a hot match prompt of of their own volition, the result is the same. Their message will appear in your GR in box and you should receive a notification to your registered email address. There is no option to switch this on or off as far as I am aware.

Hi Jackie, I am with BigPond too, so it can't be their SPAM filter blocking GR. The Viagra messages seem to be slowing down over the last few days, maybe the filter has been fine tuned. Sorry I don't have any other suggestions on why you are not receiving GR messages. Paul

Hi Peter, I know all that and have checked everything. Im not getting emails about contacts either. I used to get plenty every day. But Im defineitly getting contacts....but I have to log in to site to see them. Jackie
