Adoption Question?

If the father was not named on the birth cert, he would go through a procedure called 'Mother's own' adoption, so that the child would be officially recorded as his. Reg

Yes it can happen if his name wasn't on the birth cert. I know of the other way round were a child was illegitimate but when the mum married she and her new husband ,(who wasn't the child's dad) both had to adopt the child so he had the same name as them. silly thing but that's the legal system that a natural parent has to adopt their own child

Would a man have to officially adopt his own child? If the child was registered under the mothers maiden name, and the couple didnt marry until a few years later would this be the case?
