Ok, the last task for today is to get the parents of selina barber and henry charles barber.... this is what i have, in the 1861 census, the mother is called Margaret, there is a step father called Robert Miller, ......so we know that Margaret must have married previously and that robert isnt selina or henry's father...... i have looked on freebmd and there is a marriage of a margaret golder & sanderson barber in dec 1847......is sanderson barber the father? on the international census site.......there is more confusion i find a birth of selina barber in 1844 (right year)...mother margaret (right mum) but the father is called john barber???? help!!!! Thank you!

I'd say that the Margaret and John Barber on the christening record for Selina on familysearch site is more likely to be correct. Perhaps the marriage you found was for a brother of John Barber. This marriage is also a little late for Selina's parents (although I know they could have married after her birth. Kath. x

There is this marriage on Ancestry:- Name: John Barber Year of Registration: 1843 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Sculcoates County: Yorkshire Volume: 22 Page: 355 One of the other 8 names on the page is a Margaret Frees. Kath. x

This is the IGI info......... SELINA BARBER Female Event(s): Birth: Christening: 24 JUN 1844 Holy Trinity, Kingston Upon Hull, Yorkshire, England Parents: Father: JOHN BARBER Mother: MARGARET The brother in the same Batch....... HENRY CHARLES BARBER : Birth: Christening: 11 MAY 1846 Holy Trinity, Kingston Upon Hull, Yorkshire, England Parents: Father: JOHN BARBER Mother: MARGARET The birth on freebmd may is unlikely to be the same Selina........I can't see a registration for the brother, and I doubt if any family in those days would have given more attention to a daughter than to a son. They probably didn't register the births...it wasn't compulsory until 1875 Reg

There is this birth wich could be Selina, if it was registered after the christening (they had 6 weeks to register):- Selina Barber Sept. qtr. 1844, Hull, XXII, 415 You could order this and specify that you only want the certificate if the mother's name is Margaret. This would then give you the father's correct name. Kath. x

There IS a birth reference for Henry:- Henry Charles Barber June qtr. 1846, Hull, XXII, 419 I would think that both births are the correct ones. Kath. x
