Finding children from a marriage

Very young I would assume if the same couple were producing children thirty years later.

Yvonne - if you add some details I'm sure people will help. ( I could do with something to do ! ) what are the names of the 2 who married in 1881 ? any idea of ages ? what areas etc..

If his father married in 1881 - then have you found him on the 1891 / 1901 census.?..As you might find some of your fathers siblings mentioned.......Esta

1891 & 1901 census returns should give you 20 year's worth of siblings, surely? Mother's maiden name only appeared from mid-1911 in the births index (although the new indices being prepared for GRO will have them back to 1837, I believe, when they are finished).

I know that my father had siblings but he never spoke about them. I know that his father married in 1881 and my father was born in 1911. There must have been siblings between these dates but when I search for his surname a lot of names appear in the district of Nottingham and the records don't show the maiden name of the mother which makes it impossible to know for sure until I request a certificate - I presume. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
