oops pressed wrong button .... sorry Start again .... Ordered 2 certificates online due for despatch 30/10/06 (last Monday). One duly arrived but by Saturday I was starting to wonder where the other one was. Rang GRO Southport - lady couldn't have been more helpful but could only confirm that the certificates had been sent out separately. Suggested that if it hadn't arrived by Tuesday then I should ring back and request a duplicate (for which no charge would be made). 5 minutes after putting the phone down the GRO rang me back! She had been looking at my order and noticed that I hadn't included the postcode on the one for the 'missing' cert - apparantly TNT (the delivery service that they use) have difficulty delivering without a postcode - don't ask why! So, if you are ordering online, don't forget the postcode! ps I have now ordered a duplicate & await it eagerly! |

Anne I have my postal address details registered with the GRO site so when it gets to the 'my address' page it is already entered and I just confirm the info at the bottom of the page. I seem to remember ticking some sort of a box....Many moons ago....Remember/Register this???? Chris |

Thanks for that Chris - I'll have a look there. Unfortunately once you have experienced the excitement of opening a certificate you have to keep doing it - and any delay is greatly frustrating! I shall have to keep calm ... calm ... calm ... where's that postman! |

I e-mailed the ONS at the end of last week about my 'missing' certs, too. The despatch date was the 26 Oct and on Friday, they still hadn't arrived!! (3 Nov!) I e-mailed them, and got a standard reply, saying I would receive a proper reply within 5 days!! In the meantime the certs arrived on Monday. I pointed out several times, how much longer the certs were taking since the change to TNT. (Not usually that long, I have to admit) The certs were processed by the ONS on time, too. My theory is, if enough people let them know about the delays with TNT, they may do something about it. They offered me free replacements too. If they are having to do this on a regular basis, they will soon get fed up with TNT. If people don't keep 'harping' on at them, they won't know how bad it's got! Don't wait patiently for them to arrive!! Keep complaining!! Debbie |
