I had a hot match recently which was my Grandmother's father. When I checked My tree matches on the surname I noticed my Grandma was also added by the same person. So I PM'd them and asked the relationship and said this was my Grandmother. The Hot match replied with 'This is just a distant relative' Nothing else.................She may not realise as my Grandma is 91 that she is still alive. Have I the right do you think to ask her to be removed????Tracyx |

Tracy Yes, absolutely - this person does not have your Grandmother's permission to include her in her tree. Ask her to remove the name,(pointing out GR's terms and conditions) give her 48 hours, then if she doesn't do it, ask GR to remove the name - they will do this very promptly. OC |

Hi Tracy, I would firstly ask them to remove your nan from their tree, they may not realise that she is still alive. If they do not remove her or refuse to, get in touch with GR, let them know who the member is and who you wish to have removed explaining that no permission has been given. GR will then remove your nan from the other members tree. Good luck Keith |

I recently had a hot match for my own name and year of birth. Have done a name search and there are actually 2 others, so I have given that person the benefit of the doubt. No place of birth was mentioned, and the other 2 have blank entries. Felt a bit spooky though, especially as I was an only child. Jay |

Hi Thanks for the replies, I wanted to PM straight away but felt awkward doing so. I have just sent a PM saying that I realise she might not have been aware that my Grandma was still alive (nearly found myself apologising but didn't quite!!) Just wanted a second opinion as to if 'I had the right to request the removal' Thanks Tracyx |
