Getting Hold Of The Right Certs??

Thankyou Vivienne - I didn't think for one minute you had done it intentionally! It was just that the person concerned, or any of his children, could easily have access to the boards, and it is not nice to see your personal and private details in a public place. I think GR regard it permissible to post names of living people on the trying to find board, because that is exactly what it is. Laura I'm not criticising either you or your father for posting your own personal details on the web - that is entirely up to you. However, I do not think it either wise or courteous to do so about a third party without seeking their permission first. Jay

Our family seems to hold more secrets than ever and with all the older generation having passed away there doesnt seem to be anyone who can answer them! We don't know what happened with the divorce except that the father was not allowed any contact and the rest of the family moved out of London. We certainly do not want to upset any one and to be honest if my brother did locate his father, im not sure he would contact him right out!!! I think he is more interested in knowing about him. Im glad things worked out for you Laura. Viv

Yes I understand that, I have removed the name but I think you have provided enough to go on now! I just wanted Janet to know that I was not doing it intentionally and nor with my brothers name!! Thankyou all Viv

Do we know this has info that could offend? Is the father still living? Maybe there was an amicable split... For the last 5-10 years my father and I were posting on all sorts of internet boards trying to find his long lost cousin who had been taken to America by his dad when they were children (leaving behind his daughter I might add). We found the cousin (through other sites) and are now all in contact. There have been very hard and difficult times, and we had to decide if we did the right thing, but we did and it was right for us. Yes you need to be careful with info that you post, especially regarding people that could be living/offended etc, but sometimes you also need to take chances.... I don't think the info posted needs to be deleted myself. Laura x

This request probably contains information about a living person May I draw your attention to this, at the bottom of the board where you post; 'Please do not post anything here which may offend, infringe anyone's rights....' The personal information should be deleted. Jay

My sister in law and I have been trying to trace my brothers father. We have a little information to go on but are not sure where or whom we contact for the certificates. Details are, he was born in the springtime of 1940 in Barnet. He married in August 1960 and his son, my brother was born in Feb 1961, soon after this he divorced. Thant is all we know! Any help on where to look next as well as getting hold of the right info would be much appreciated. We are not sure if he is still alive so would it be worth checking death records? Thanks Viv Does that make the message more acceptable? Viv
