If he was killed overseas during the war you should also be able to find his death in the GRO indexes, but not the main death index. Instead you should look in the GRO War Deaths indexes. There are four - 1914 -1921 Officers, 1914 - 1921 other ranks, 1939 - 1948 officers and 1939 -1948 other ranks. Don't think Ancestry has them but they are on 1837online or findmypast as it is now known. |

if u just put in the name and click on eithe WW1 or WW2 that will give you all the deaths for that name and war |

I hadnt known about that site, looks good thank you. Still doesnt appear for the dates i was given. Perhaps the dates given to me were inaccrate, will carry out a broader search! |

Im told that a family member was killed during the war. But im unable to find his death listed in the BMD. If he was killed whilst posted abroad would he still be listed in UK BMD? Or am I looking in the wrong places? Any advise would be great, thanks Samantha |
