Im so excited I called this morning and ive got an appointment from 6pm - 9pm tonight!!!!!!! hows that for being a brillaint service, ive been madly printing off the info im after (from the LDS site ) when I do view the originals what will I likely see? has anyone ever been to a centre? will it give address's witness's will i be able to actually see the marriage and print them off/ im so excited. Hi, It's unlikely that they will have everything you want there. Most LDS centres have to order in the films you need (£2.70 for a month's hire). Make a note of the films you need and order them a couple at a time. When they arrive you will be telephoned and you will be able to make an appointment to view them. Gwynne

Hi Angie I've been once before. If you're looking at films of marriages before 1837 you probably won't see parents details but you should see witnesses etc. Sometimes you have to order the film in - is that what you've done this time? I'm not sure that they keep any original films at the centres as usually they are sent from Utah. Good luck Jill

Angela The LDS centre will only have local stuff in stock, you will have to order anything else (take some money with you!) You can usually take photocopies of entries - about 10p at mine. You can also use Ancestry free of charge. You will be looking at films of the original parish registers, and the information on these varies - there is no hard and fast rule. Happy hunting! OC

Latter Day Saints centre (also known as the Family centre) theyre all over the one in Nottingham is at Westbridgeford (so only bout 2 miles from my home) if anyone wants anything looking up for Nottingham area let me know before 5pm and ill c what I can find xxxxxxxx

I am so dissapointed :(((((((((((((((((((( I went to the LDS centre got there for 5-55pm no one was there all locked up, hung around till 6-20pm no one came :(((((((((((((( i am so upset, I have been like a cat on a hot tin roof all day. Think ill give the place a miss now and stick to my local Archives

So sorry to hear of your disappointment Angela, but these places are manned by volunteers, and if the volunteer doesn't turn up.... I really think they should have phoned you though, as your appointment must have been in the book. This has happened to me several times but I just grit my teeth and try again another time. OC

ya know what I think its my flipping rellies up there jinxing me lol I think they like to get my hopes up and watch my face fall lol. Im over it now and will call again in the morning and go again tomorrow night (hopefully) im hoping they will have my great grandad x 7 baptism as they havnt got it at the Nottingham archives so im hoping they will have it at the LDS also his marriage details.
