Can someone help me please,i am trying to trace my grandfarther who was born in 1884/85 .I have a long list of possibilities but do not know the best way to narrow the search .He could have been Irish or Scottish as his surname was O'Donnell very little clues as no members of my family alive any sudgestions please Thank You |

have you got your fathers/mothers birth cert. this will have fathers name and mothers maiden name. you will then be able to search for their marriage. brenda |

Hi have e-mailed you before. Do you know even roughly what area your father was born? might help to narrow down location of your grandfather and help you work back. Or even career if known might lead to a likely area . Have you heard of any uncles/great uncles names that you might be able to track? I found that if I could get a location and put it in on freebmd then just enter the surname I came up with more possibilities for relatives and luckily following them I came up with the person I wanted. Hope that makes sense. Try and put anything you do know (or guess at) up on the board there are so many people who have done this much longer than me who have been incredibly helpful with their time, sometimes it just needs a fresh pair of eyes looking at the problem. |

Can you tell us your father's name, please? Do you have his birth certificate? - which will give your grandfather's name. |
